Spider Mites is a family-level umbrella affecting vegetables, fruit crops, ornamentals, nursery plants, weeds, and greenhouse crops. Cell feeding causes pale stippling that merges into bronzing, scorch, leaf drop, and reduced photosynthesis. Heavy colonies may cover leaves and stems with webbing. Dust, drought stress, and disruptive insecticides often precede outbreaks. Identification

Spider mites are usually 0.3 to 0.6 mm long, with eight legs as nymphs and adults. Colors range from green and yellow to red or brown. Many species produce silk, but webbing abundance differs. Eggs are round and laid on plant surfaces. The relevant inspection site is vegetables, fruit crops, ornamentals, nursery plants, weeds, and greenhouse crops.
