Welcome to Green Grass Grove, a proud division of The Mushroom Network (TMN) and a small private research and therapy farm located in the North Florida region (Zone 9A). Our 5-acre property is home to a diverse array of crops—including fruits, nuts, berries, vegetables, herbs, and mycelium. We are dedicated to sustainable farming, utilizing organic and natural methods to nurture our land and community.
We believe that LOCAL small-scale farming can have a HUGE impact on all food systems and, most importantly, the environment.
Some of our most Advanced Farming Methods involve the use of live aquatic life and beneficial fungi!
Aquaculture and Aquaponics form the cornerstone of our sustainable food production system. We use live aquatic organisms to enrich water with nutrients, creating a symbiotic environment where plants thrive. This closed-loop system minimizes waste and significantly reduces water usage compared to traditional farming methods. Our integrated setup allows us to cultivate a wide variety of nutrient-dense plants—including vegetables, fruits, berries, nuts, herbs, and flowers—while raising aquatic life such as Blue Tilapia, Bluegill, Catfish, Prawns, etc. as a sustainable protein source.
In addition to aquaponics, Mushroom Gardening and Mycorrhizal Fungi Cultivation play a vital role in our regenerative farming approach. Mycorrhizal fungi form mutualistic relationships with plant roots, enhancing nutrient absorption, improving soil structure, and increasing drought resistance. These fungal networks act as nature’s underground internet, facilitating the exchange of nutrients between plants and the surrounding soil ecosystem.
At Green Grass Grove, we cultivate a variety of beneficial fungi to improve soil health, suppress plant diseases, and increase crop yields naturally. Our Mushroom Gardening efforts focus on growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms—such as Shiitake, Oyster, Lion’s Mane, and Wine Cap—in harmony with our existing crops. By incorporating spent mushroom substrates into our compost and soil amendments, we boost microbial activity, creating richer, more fertile land for future growth.
We believe that aquaponics, mycorrhizal fungi, and mushroom cultivation represent the future of sustainable food production. Our mission is to continuously innovate, refine our techniques, and share our knowledge—encouraging others to embrace these eco-friendly farming solutions and help regenerate the land.

Garden Therapy
At Green Grass Grove, we believe in the power of garden therapy to help individuals improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Garden Therapy is a type of therapy that uses gardens and plants to help people with PTSD recover from their trauma.
PTSD is a serious mental health condition that can be caused by a traumatic event. It can lead to a number of mental and physical health problems, including anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Garden Therapy can help people with PTSD by providing a safe and calming environment where they can work through their trauma.
Garden Therapy has a number of benefits for people with PTSD. First, it can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Gardening can be a very calming and relaxing activity, and it can help to take people’s minds off of their trauma. Second, garden therapy can help to improve sleep. Many people with PTSD have difficulty sleeping, but gardening can help to relax the body and mind, making it easier to fall asleep. Third, garden therapy can help to boost mood and energy levels. Gardening can be a great way to get some exercise and fresh air, both of which can help to improve mood and energy levels. Fourth, garden therapy can help to promote healing. Working in a garden can help people to process their trauma and to start to heal from it.
Studies have shown that Garden Therapy is an effective treatment for individuals with PTSD. The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry found that garden therapy significantly reduced symptoms of PTSD in veterans. Participants in the study reported reductions in flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, and depression. Another study published in the journal Psychotherapy found that garden therapy was an effective treatment for patients with chronic PTSD (cPTSD). Garden Therapy was found to reduce symptoms of avoidance, numbing, hyper-arousal, and re-experiencing. Participants also reported increased feelings of self-efficacy and hope after completing the program.
Garden Therapy can also benefit individuals with other mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and stress. A study published in the journal Psychiatry found that horticultural activities were associated with a reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety in people with bipolar disorder. Participants in the study also reported increased feelings of well-being and social functioning after completing the program. Another study published in the journal Health Promotion Practice found that horticultural therapy was an effective treatment for patients with bipolar disorder. The study found that participants who received horticultural therapy had significant reductions in symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. They also reported improvements in their overall quality of life.
We have seen firsthand how Garden Therapy can improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. Alexander suffers from cPTSD and other mental disorders that can make life very challenging for him. Garden Therapy has been one of the best therapies we have found to help him to try and relax, safely process his traumas, and feel more connected with Nature and Spirit. Being outdoors and in nature, peacefully focusing on the plants and their needs, can help him feel calmer and more at peace.
If you are interested in trying Garden Therapy, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, it is important to find a safe and comfortable place to garden. If you are gardening outside, make sure you are in a safe area where you feel comfortable. If you are gardening indoors, make sure the space is well-ventilated and that you have all the necessary supplies. Second, it is important to start small. Don’t try to do too much at first. Start with a small plant or a small section of a garden. Third, it is important to be patient. Healing from trauma takes time, and it is important to give yourself time to heal. Garden Therapy can be a great way to start the healing process, but it is important to be patient and to take things one step at a time. At Green Grass Grove, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore the benefits of Garden Therapy.
